2018

In October 2018 the Royal Australian Navy commissioned its first drone squadron. See the report by Darren Crick at Drones go to sea

2017

December 2017 witnessed a series of events in NSW with the retirement of the Royal Australian Navy’s Seahawk Bravo and Squirrel fleet of naval helicopters at HMAS Albatross, along with the decommissioning of HMAS Darwin FFG-04,  at Navy Base Garden Island, which would have used such helicopters onboard in service. DUAN has interviewed 3 members of the Royal Australian Navy  – 2 aircrew (who currently fly the MH-60R Seahawk and the soon to be retired and older S-70B-2 Seahawk) and a ground maintainer to gain insights to what it like to be in naval aviation. See our interviews at this link

2013

Late 2013 was the 100th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy and they held a big celebration on Sydney Harbour. Included were many military, civil and warbird aircraft flying over the harbour. See more at RANS 100th birthday celebrations

2011
